About TLIP
The Texas Legislative Internship Program (TLIP), founded in 1990 by Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and run by Texas Southern University's Mickey Leland Center on World Hunger and Peace, places Texas college students in semester-long internships (6–15 credit hours) with the Texas Legislature and state/local government offices—from the Governor's office during legislative sessions to the Harris County Judge and Houston Mayor's office in the interim. The program has launched many careers in public service, with alumni including sitting Texas House members Ana Hernandez, Armando Walle, and Ron Reynolds, plus judges, district attorneys, and Houston City Council members.
